Erin Mills

Erin Mills, as TRREB defines it, is the southern portion of the Erin Mills new town: Dundas Street West to the south, roughly Highway 403 and Eglinton Avenue West to the north, the Credit River to the east and Winston Churchill Boulevard to the west. Central Erin Mills continues north of Eglinton.

The housing here reflects the phases of the new town. Erin Mills South, the first phase, dates from the 1970s and mixes two-storey detached, semis and link homes with condominium townhouse complexes tucked into the greenbelt, many of them on cul-de-sacs off Glen Erin Drive, Folkway Drive and South Millway. Erin Mills West followed in the mid 1980s with larger detached homes. The high-rise stock clusters around Burnhamthorpe Road West and The Collegeway: Eagle Ridge at Burnhamthorpe and Glen Erin is a gated complex with a large pool, Canyon Springs at 1700 The Collegeway and the neighbouring 1900 The Collegeway were built by Camrost-Felcorp between 1989 and 1991, and there are towers at 3501 Glen Erin Drive, 3170 Erin Mills Parkway and 2155 and 2177 Burnhamthorpe Road West. Newer mid-rise and townhouse projects are proposed along Erin Mills Parkway, including a mixed-use plan at 4099 Erin Mills Parkway with five mid-rise buildings and townhouse blocks.

The Mississauga Transitway's Erin Mills station opened in September 2015 at Eglinton and Erin Mills Parkway, with 300 parking spaces and GO bus stops, and MiWay's 109 Meadowvale Express uses it on the way to Kipling. Erindale GO at 1320 Rathburn Road West is the nearest Milton line station, with rush-hour trains and 770 parking spaces, and Clarkson GO on the Lakeshore West line is the choice for all-day service. MiWay route 1 Dundas links Kipling station and the University of Toronto Mississauga, route 26 runs Burnhamthorpe, and route 110 University Express serves the campus. Highway 403 runs across the community with interchanges at Erin Mills Parkway and Winston Churchill Boulevard, the QEW is minutes south, and Highway 407 is reached via Winston Churchill.

Erindale Secondary School on Dundas Street West serves the western section of Erin Mills, and The Woodlands School, a grade 7 to 12 school at 3225 Erindale Station Road, is nearby. Loyola Catholic Secondary School moved in 2012 to a campus at 4010 Sladeview Crescent near Burnhamthorpe and Ridgeway. Elementary schools in the community include Sawmill Valley, Brookmede and Garthwood Park public schools, Erin Mills Middle School, and St. Clare, Christ the King, St. Mark and St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic schools. French-language options include École élémentaire Horizon Jeunesse and École secondaire Gaétan Gervais. The University of Toronto Mississauga campus is on Mississauga Road at the community's edge, and Credit Valley Hospital is a University of Toronto teaching site. Boundaries move as enrolment changes, so verify any address with the Peel and Dufferin-Peel boards.

South Common Community Centre and Library at 2233 South Millway is the neighbourhood hub, though it closed for a redevelopment that is expected to reopen in late 2027 with a larger library and a link to South Common Park, and a pop-up library runs in the meantime. Erin Mills Twin Arenas on Unity Drive handle hockey and skating. The Sawmill Valley Trail follows Sawmill Creek past the university, and Erindale Park at 1695 Dundas Street West, the city's largest park, brings you down to the Credit River for salmon runs, tobogganing and ravine trails. Shopping runs from neighbourhood plazas on Glen Erin Drive up to Erin Mills Town Centre at Eglinton, which opened in 1989 and was rebuilt in 2013 to 2015 with a glass sphere over its centre court. Credit Valley Hospital at 2200 Eglinton Avenue West, opened in 1985 with 382 beds, includes the Carlo Fidani Peel Regional Cancer Centre.

Erin Mills suits families who want established streets, trails between the subdivisions and a full choice of schools, and it suits university households: UTM staff, faculty and students gravitate to the Collegeway towers and the townhouses on Glen Erin Drive. Downsizers get gated and amenity-rich condos like Eagle Ridge and Canyon Springs without leaving the neighbourhood. Commuters have the 403, the Transitway and two GO lines to choose from. Investors like the steady rental demand from the campus and the hospital.
