Lorne Park

Mississauga's estate quarter, with winding streets, mature canopy, and the lake at the end of the road.

The character

What Lorne Park

is

Lorne Park is where Mississauga keeps its quietest streets. The roads wind rather than grid, the oak and pine canopy closes overhead in summer, and most of the neighbourhood has no through-traffic to speak of. You drive into Lorne Park on purpose, or not at all.

Life in Lorne Park organizes around the outdoors and the schools. Rattray Marsh's boardwalk trails and the waterfront trail at Jack Darling are the daily-walk defaults; Port Credit's village strip is minutes east for restaurants and the marina. The Lorne Park Secondary School catchment is a fixture of the neighbourhood's identity, and Clarkson Village's shops sit just west.

Getting there and around

Drivers reach the QEW in a few minutes north; GO commuters split between Clarkson and Port Credit stations on the Lakeshore West line, both close by. Transit within the neighbourhood itself is thin. This is a place people drive home to.

The homes

The housing

stock

Mid-century ranches and split-levels on deep lots, renovated family two-storeys, and a steady march of new custom homes. Lorne Park's stock is low-density and individual, with almost nothing attached or high-rise. Many buyers here are buying the lot and the street as much as the house.

My take

“The trade in Lorne Park is simple: you give up walkability and take privacy and land. The buyers I meet here are usually trading up for the schools, the lot sizes and the quiet, and once they're in, they tend to stay for decades.”
