Condo shopping in Fairview means choosing between two generations. The older buildings along Hurontario Street and Central Parkway West date from the 1970s and 1980s and offer larger suites, enclosed balconies and fees that usually include heat, hydro and water; The Fairmont at 25 Fairview Road West is one of them. The newer generation is the towers beside Cooksville GO and near Burnhamthorpe: the Edge Towers at 24, 26, 30 and 36 Elm Drive West, Eve and Elle at 3515 and 3525 Kariya Drive, and Hampton Oaks at 60 Hanson Road. Newer suites are smaller, one and two bedrooms with dens, with gyms, pools and guest suites. What to check: the status certificate and reserve fund in any older building; the fee per square foot and what it includes; owned versus exclusive use parking, since not every new suite comes with a space; the share of investor owned units; and, beside the tracks, how the building handles train noise and vibration.
